It is with great sadness that I learned of Evelyn's passing, but it is with warmth and love that I embrace her memory. Evelyn has always been ( as was her beloved, Van-known to others as "Doc") a lifelong part of me and my family. Having grown up next door at #4 Van Buren Avenue, Doc and Ev were only separated from me by the Flynn driveway and the hedgerow between our two houses. There was a worn path between the Flynn driveway and the Van Buren back door. I was an infant six month old when Doc and Ev purchased their home at #6, and being the youngest of the four Flynn children, there are very few childhood memories that do not include the Van Burens. Ev and Doc were an extension of my family and my home and so much more than just wonderful neighbors. Ev was our nurse. Doc was our dentist. Together, they were our mentors, and our forever friends. In life, our greatest treasures are found in the lives of those who we have shared our journey. I am blessed and honored to have walked with Evelyn and Doc and their love and friendship will be treasured always.
